LaGrange Park, IL- Valenta Stadium was the place to be Saturday if you love high school football. #3 Joliet Catholic Academy (10-2) rolled into town for a rematch with the defending 6A IHSA State Champion #7 Nazareth Roadrunners. Nazareth (10-2) avenged their October 9th 38-35 loss at JCA with a convincing 35-21 victory over the Hilltoppers to advance to the 5A semifinals. They will be up next against #5 St. Laurence (10-2) in Burbank. The Vikings who hail from the Chicago Catholic White Division, beat #8 Tinley Park (9-3) 36-9.
The Roadrunners were led by a fantastic overall effort by WR/OLB Christian Davis, who recovered a fumble, caught a 9 yard TD pass from QB Carson Bartles AND returned an interception 74 yards for a another TD. What Davis did would be a good season for many players, yet he accomplished it all in the first quarter. Notre Dame bound CB/WR Julian Love, scampered 77 yards out of the Wildcat formation for a TD. It was vintage Love, once again.
Head coach Tim Racki was very excited but not very surprised by his teams effort, “It was a classic game. Credit to our defense for limiting a potent JCA offense, and of course Julian Love. This was a signature victory for our seniors to close out their home career at Valenta Stadium.”
