#MomsEyeView: #ScotsTalk With Jared Wacker

UPDATE: Enid, OK- Thanks to NJCAA TV,   http://www.njcaatv.com/landing/index  I watched the whole game yesterday on my laptop. What a game it was. With drama befitting a MLB play off game, the McHenry County College Scots prevailed and lived to see another day. Today is that day. The 50-11 “County’s Favorite Baseball Team” plays Brunswick, NC at 3:30 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

Saturday the Scots were relentless. Head Coach Jared Wacker was very pleased with the stick-to-itiveness of his team, “Our guys don’t quit. We talked after yesterday’s game about how we didn’t handle adversity as well as we have been. Today we did a much better job of moving past negative plays (close play at first base, gave up an early home run) and focused on winning the next pitch.”

MCC was led offensively by Clark Brinkman (1-5, 2 runs, HR, 3 RBI), Brett Stratinsky (2-4, 1 run, HR, 1 RBI), Cullen Mayhew (1-4, 1 run, 2 RBI), Riley Richarz (2-4, 2 runs) and Casey Oliver (1-4, 1 run, HR (game winner), 1 RBI). The Scots pitching was solid. Reilly Peltier started and gave way to eventual winner Jack Granath in the 3rd. Mason Martin pitched 2.0 innings of 1 run ball for another great save by the Huntley HS alum.

Of the Scot’s offensive attack, Wacker said this, “We didn’t have good at bats early in the game but I credit our guys for making good adjustments the 2nd and 3rd time through the order.” The Scots finished the game with 10 hits.

On the new roles that Granath and Martin have encountered in Enid, Wacker pointed out, “I credit Jack and Mason for doing a great job in roles they weren’t really used in during the regular season. Northern Iowa Area can really hit, so our pitchers did an outstanding job. The defense made two HUGE plays with the game on the line in the ninth )Brinkman made a laser beam throw to Richarz at second base to nip the Trojan’s lead off man and Collin Chubb (Crystal Lake South HS alum) made a terrific diving catch in right field).

Good luck to the Scots today vs Brunswick (41-17). Both teams have one loss.

Update: MCC Scots beat NIACC 8-7 today to advance to play Monday. In depth post tomorrow morning. Happy Memorial Day!!!
