@MCCScots News: Nick Vasic

Crystal Lake, IL-

Congratulations to Nick Vasic earning the MCC Student-Athlete of the Month honor for February. The New Berlin Eisenhower HS (WI) graduate is a sophomore on our Baseball Team.

Nick is the starting shortstop for the Scots who finished as 2016 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Champions and Region IV Champions. He was named to the All-Conference and All Region IV Teams. Spring 2016 he hit .394 at the plate and stole 39 bases. Great things are expected of him and the team again this spring.

Nick has already earned a baseball scholarship to Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. Head Coach Jared Wacker lauds Nick. “Nick has proven to be a tireless worker, getting the most out of his abilities on the field and in the classroom here at MCC.  He’s a perfect example of what junior college athletics can provide these individuals in terms of development and opportunity at the next level.”

Nick also works hard in the classroom.  He has maintained a 3.7 GPA over the past three semesters at MCC. He will again earn All-Conference Academic Honors for 2016-17. He is on course to graduate as a NJCAA Academic All-American Student-Athlete as well.

“We are proud of Nick and all that he has accomplished at MCC as an athlete and most importantly, as a student. He has taken the opportunities at MCC to empower him to the next level as an athlete and student. He is a great example of what we do at MCC and through our athletic department,” adds Director of Athletics Karen Wiley.
