Crystal Lake, IL- bergsworld.live recently caught up with Crystal Lake South Gators head baseball coach Brian Bogda. Since our conversation, the Gators have started the season 4-0. They have outscored their opponents 35-10. They have quality W’s over IC Prep, Palatine and Barrington. Superb pitching and “lights-out” hitting from Ryan Parquette, Nick Wolski, Griffin Bright and Blake Kueffel have been key to the Gators fast start.

The Bogda-led Gators head to Marion, IL to battle multiple challengers over Spring Break. They include Wauconda, Carbondale, Harrisburg, Mt. Vernon and Frankfort. You can follow the Gators on Twitter @CLSBaseball or at GC.com

Enjoy….

  •  From McHenry County College AD Karen Wiley:

Congratulations to Jasmine O’Brien earning the MCC Student-Athlete of the Month honor for October.  The Crystal Lake Central H.S graduate is a sophomore for our Women’s Tennis Team.

Jasmine is a returning player for the 2017-18 Scots this fall.  The team finished 6-2 overall and finished tied for second in conference play, marking the team’s best finish in 12 years.  “Jasmine has shown great improvement from her freshman year and has shown great energy and focus for our team.  She competed in singles and doubles at regionals.  We are proud to see her hard work and desire pay off,” lauds Coach Conni Stinek.

“Jasmine has participated on our growing women’s tennis team and has seen great success this season as an individual and doubles partner.  She has represented well for MCC in competition and in the classroom.  Always happy to see our area student-athletes choosing MCC as a valuable option for their college choice,” adds Director of Athletics Karen Wiley.

  • From baseball HC Brian Bogda of Crystal Lake South HS:
I am proud to announce 1B/LF Noah Tyrrell’s commitment to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside to continue his education and baseball career next fall.  He will sign his NLI on Nov. 8th at the high school.  Noah played an integral role on our IHSA 4A State Championship baseball team this past spring. Noah had quite a tournament where he went 5 for 9 with 9 RBI, including a state record 5 RBI in the title game.
“It is a true privilege and honor to coach Noah. He works very hard and I am very proud of his accomplishments. I look forward to many more great things from Noah this spring.  I know he will do very well at Parkside and he has a chance to play right away under the direction of Coach Dan Esposito.”
