MCC S-A of the Month: Tyler Baker

IMG_7717

MCHENRY COUNTY COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to Tyler Baker earning the MCC Student-Athlete of the Month honor for December.  The Crystal Lake South HS graduate is a sophomore on our Men’s Basketball Team.

Tyler is a 5’11” starting guard for the Scots.  He is averaging 7 points per game, 3 assists a game, and nearly 40% Field Goal from the three-point line.  He plays an important role on the team as the point guard with contributions reaching far beyond the stat sheets.

Head Coach David Pettit states, “Tyler has been an integral part of our team’s success.  He has remained a constant worker, tenacious defender and workhorse for us on the floor.  His leadership has proven to be an important part of what we do on the floor and off.  He has a high intensity class load, requiring him to spend extra time in class and studying.  He manages his time with great efficiency, maintaining a very high GPA these past two years.  I have enjoyed coaching Tyler and watching him grow as a player and student.”

As hard as Tyler works on the basketball court, he works even harder in the classroom.  Academically, Ryan has been a member of the Dean’s List all three semesters that he has attended MCC.  He will again earn All-Conference Academic Honors this year.  He plans on furthering his education at UIC, majoring in engineering. Tyler is the true embodiment of the Student-Athlete.

“Tyler has represented MCC Athletics with a great deal of maturity and focus for two years. He has led his team on the floor and has maintained a high level of work and consistency in the classroom.  We are proud to have a student-athlete of Tyler’s caliber part of our program and department.  Tyler will be successful in his future endeavors, and we are proud we could be part of his development as a MCC student-athlete,” adds Athletic Director Karen Wiley.
